About The Position

Contract Specialists plan and manage acquisitions to procure a variety of products and services for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). They also administer contracts by monitoring contractor performance, preparing modifications, resolving problems, and terminating and closing out contracts. The role may include a warrant authorizing the employee to obligate the Government within the warrant’s stated limitations. NGA hires individuals for their overall skills within a specialty and may place them in different positions throughout the agency after completion of the clearance process. The specific position’s duties and features—including travel, supervisory responsibilities, and telework eligibility—may vary based on available assignments. Applicants receive final documentation describing the specific position before making a final commitment to join NGA. This is a non-supervisory, permanent, telework-ineligible position as currently advertised, with travel not required. The position may be eligible for a recruitment incentive, subject to applicable eligibility rules and a service agreement. NGA uses the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS); employees are assigned to pay bands, and annual performance evaluations inform the performance pay process, which may include a base-pay increase and/or bonus. The position is in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1601.
