About The Position

Responsible for the overall operation of adult, child, and/or special population care and recreation programs. This includes managing staff and participants, as well as maintaining relations with parents, guardians, and school/church personnel. The role requires knowledge of modern office support functions, equipment, computer programs, inventory control, and bookkeeping. The ability to handle child discipline, staff management, and recreational programming is essential. Strong skills in organization, prioritization, time management, and communication (written, verbal, electronic, and visual) are necessary for effective expression and clarity. The position may require operating a motor vehicle and performing other related duties as assigned by supervisors. Individuals must report to work as scheduled and be willing to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Prior experience working with children.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience with employee and recreation program management required for Four Freedoms and School Programs.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities required for Special Populations.
  • Certification in CPR and first aid required within ninety (90) days of hire or promotion.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license upon hire and obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • Ability to be available for school functions, orientation and in-service meetings or training sessions.
  • Ability to give and receive instructions and apply consistent courtesy and tact in public contact and/or confrontational situations.
  • Knowledge of modern office support functions.
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment and various computer programs and applications.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, and bookkeeping functions.
  • Ability to handle child discipline, staff management, and recreational programming.
  • Skill in organization, prioritization, and time management.
  • Skill in written, verbal, electronic, and visual communications for effective expression and clarity.
  • Tasks performed inside and outside, subject to weather conditions and uneven terrain, and risk of exposure to toxic agents/chemicals, pathogens, and smoke.
  • Light physical demands, such as exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Prolonged periods of visual concentration.
  • Moderate levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Ability to speak, hear (perceive sound) and/or signal people to convey and exchange information.
  • Ability to differentiate between colors or shades of color.
  • Ability to read a variety of materials, at times complex.
  • Ability to apply principles of rational problem-solving.
  • Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, issue and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate in Standard English as primary language while performing job duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Director's credential preferred.
  • Children and Family Services (CFS) 45-hour training required within one (1) year of hire or promotion for positions at Four Freedoms Park and Before and After School Programs only (must be registered within 90 days of hire or promotion).
