Contract Recruiter

Butcher Power ProductsRancho Cordova, CA

About The Position

Butcher Power Products (BPP) is a fast-growing manufacturer of switchgear and electrical distribution equipment. Our in-house HR and Talent Acquisition function is just three months old — and we’re scaling fast. We’re hiring a Contract Recruiter to join two recently hired recruiters as the third member of a brand-new TA team that will shape how BPP recruits, together. This is a hands-on, high-volume role: you’ll carry a heavy and evolving requisition load spanning manufacturing and operational positions as well as specialized roles in skilled trades and electrical and mechanical engineering, while helping refine processes that are new and still evolving. You won’t inherit a polished machine — you’ll help build one. We have a documented foundation in place (Gem as our ATS and system of record, a structured intake process, validated screen and interview guides), and we need recruiters who can execute within it, improve it, and stay flexible as priorities shift. The right person is energized by ambiguity, builds trusted partnerships with hiring managers quickly, and treats change as part of the job rather than a disruption to it.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including sustained high-volume hiring
  • Proven ability to manage 20+ concurrent requisitions with urgency and attention to detail
  • Strong relationship and partnership skills — able to quickly earn credibility with hiring managers and operate as a true talent advisor
  • Demonstrated adaptability and change management mindset; comfortable when processes, priorities, and tools are still being defined
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through

Nice To Haves

  • Recruiting experience in manufacturing, industrial, or skilled trades environments, including technical roles such as electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Experience in startup, high-growth, or newly built recruiting functions
  • Hands-on experience with a modern ATS (Gem strongly preferred) and AI-assisted recruiting tools to improve speed and pipeline quality
  • Track record of contributing to process improvement — bringing ideas, testing them, and standardizing what works
  • Familiarity with California hiring compliance (pay transparency, Fair Chance Act)

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting across a high-volume requisition load — sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and offer support — spanning manufacturing, operational, skilled trades, and engineering roles
  • Run structured intake conversations with hiring managers to calibrate on must-haves, disqualifiers, and timelines before roles are posted
  • Build and maintain proactive talent pipelines for recurring production roles and hard-to-fill technical positions (skilled trades, electrical and mechanical engineering)
  • Work in Gem as the system of record — keeping candidate stages, notes, and hiring decisions current and accurate
  • Partner with the TA team to standardize, document, and improve recruiting workflows as the function matures
  • Deliver a professional, responsive candidate experience that reflects BPP’s brand in the Sacramento-area labor market
  • Support compliant hiring practices, including California pay transparency and Fair Chance Act requirements
  • Flex across priorities as business needs evolve — requisition loads, role types, and processes will shift during the contract
