Continuing Education Instructor, Health and Human Services
About The Position
Health and Human Services (HHS) provides high quality, learner centered instruction across a range of health education programs, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Phlebotomy, Electrocardiography (ECG), nursing and healthcare continuing education, and consumer health courses. This role ensures students gain the knowledge, hands on skills, and professional competencies necessary for safe, effective practice in clinical and community settings. Instructors create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that accommodates diverse learners while maintaining compliance with institutional, regulatory, and certifying body standards. They serve as subject matter experts and professional role models, using evidence based teaching strategies, skills demonstrations, and competency assessments to help students achieve certification, continuing education goals, and improved health literacy.
Requirements
- Current certification or licensure relevant to assigned teaching areas (e.g., BLS Instructor, RN/LPN, Certified Phlebotomy Technician, ECG Technician)
- Demonstrated proficiency in core skills related to course content (e.g., venipuncture, ECG lead placement, emergency response skills)
- Experience teaching, training, or precepting in a clinical or educational environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to teach diverse adult learners
- Ability to meet institutional and regulatory requirements for instructional documentation, assessment, and compliance
Nice To Haves
- Experience with PowerPoint, Canvas, and Zoom
- Experience teaching in higher education, workforce development, or community health programs, seminars and workshops
- Familiarity with accreditation standards (AHA, ASCP, NHA, ANCC, etc.)
