Entry Level Contingent Engineer 1 1

Honda Racing Corporation USA•Santa Clarita, CA

About The Position

Honda is seeking entry-level contingent engineers for several engineering areas supporting its racing program. Depending on the assignment, the engineer may work on chassis design and development, engine design, electrical systems, product development, engine testing, or vehicle dynamics. Work includes simulation, design, modeling, validation, testing, calibration, technical reporting, and coordination to support engineering goals across the product development life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Simulate, design, and validate chassis components using simulation tools, dynamometers, rigs, and track tests; provide feedback and prepare technical reports.
  • Prepare engine design concepts; model components and assemblies; evaluate and analyze designs; prepare and release drawings; coordinate part manufacturing; and perform related administrative duties.
  • Support electronic control systems on the race car; validate control-system design and application; optimize calibration of system algorithms and functions using real-time software; and work with engine-related electronic control units, ignition, switches, wiring harness systems, wiring looms, and connectors.
  • Create development plans for concepts and component development across the product life cycle from concept to production, and execute required tests and validations to achieve project goals.
  • Conduct engine development and durability testing on the test cell; ensure the test cell is ready to meet testing goals and deadlines; program and operate test cells and plans; develop engine and instrumentation calibration settings; perform cell maintenance; and review testing methods for improvements in accuracy, consistency, and results processing.
  • Populate and calibrate vehicle model parameters; perform correlation studies comparing vehicle model behavior with real-world test data; and model and characterize vehicle systems such as aerodynamics, brakes, multi-body suspensions, tires, and powertrains.
