About The Position

Under direct supervision and with guidance from senior engineers and your mentor, you will support your team in designing, developing, and deploying Large Learning Models for production environments. Your work will align with USAA's technology strategy, potentially using AI tools and automation to enhance efficiency.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Anticipated graduation date between September 2027 and May 2028.
- Foundational understanding of Python
- Foundational understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Foundational understanding of Prompt Engineering
- Foundational understanding of SQL and database concepts
- Foundational understanding of Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership through coursework, projects, student organizations, employment, or community involvement.
Nice To Haves
- Experience building production AI or machine learning applications.
- AI Fluency
- Experience integrating AI into enterprise systems.
- Coursework or project experience involving software development.
- Understanding of Agile development concepts.
- Interest in AI-assisted development and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, test, and optimize prompts for LLMs and generative AI applications
- Contribute to AI workflows, agentic AI solutions, and prompt orchestration to automate business processes
- Partner with business leaders to translate business problems into AI enabled solutions
- Evaluate AI outputs, measure quality, and continuously refine prompt performance
- Design and enforce prompt guardrails to ensure compliant solutions
- Research emerging AI models, prompting techniques, and agent frameworks to continuously improve AI capabilities
