Content Operations & Growth Manager

BoxRedwood City, CA
Hybrid

About The Position

Box's Content Marketing team operates as a media outlet within an enterprise software company, building content journeys for key personas, shipping daily, growing owned audiences, and proving its impact on pipeline. The Content Operations & Growth Manager is the backbone of that operation, sitting at the center of writing, video, social, and cross-functional stakeholder relationships. This role is responsible for understanding where every asset lives, how it ladders into a content journey, and identifying potential issues before they become problems. The manager will also be the team's representative in launch planning, campaign coordination, and stakeholder meetings, making decisions on the team's behalf and defining support for launches. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role that reports directly to the Senior Director of Content Marketing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in content operations, marketing operations, or editorial operations at a B2B SaaS or technology company.
  • Proven experience managing content workflows and publishing systems at scale, including intake processes, editorial calendars, and cross-functional publishing operations.
  • Comfortable representing a team in meetings and making decisions on prioritization, scope, and launch support.
  • Strong grasp of content performance measurement, understanding the difference between vanity reach and pipeline impact, and ability to build infrastructure to track the latter.
  • Experience with channel growth programs, such as growing email newsletters, YouTube subscribers, or LinkedIn audiences through systematic strategy.
  • Familiarity with tools like Airtable, Knotch, Adobe Analytics, or equivalent content performance and project management platforms.
  • Bias for systems over heroics; ability to build scalable processes.
  • Ability to work from an assigned office a minimum of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Stitch Content Journeys Together: Ensure content journeys function as cohesive narratives, not just collections of assets. Understand existing content, ensure clear next steps from each piece, and guide users deeper into content, toward subscriptions, or further down the funnel.
  • Maintain and evolve content constellation views in Airtable to track content at each stage of the funnel for key personas, freshness, and performance.
  • Identify content journey gaps and surface them with context on what's missing, why it matters, and where it should sit.
  • Work with editorial and video teams to connect existing content with clear next steps and calls to action.
  • Own the Publishing Pipeline: Run Box’s content publishing operation from intake to publication, using Airtable as the system of record, ensuring capacity visibility, and managing cross-functional scheduling.
  • Ensure 90%+ of content requests are processed through formal intake with clear prioritization criteria.
  • Identify and fix bottlenecks, gaps, and workflow failures early.
  • Define and Coordinate Launch Support: Define Content Marketing's support for launches, including scope, content creation, resurfacing existing content, and amplification. Coordinate execution.
  • Serve as Content Marketing’s primary point of contact for launches and waves, attending planning meetings, representing the team, and making decisions.
  • Define the bill of materials for each launch: net-new content, existing content re-promotion, and amplification across owned channels.
  • Coordinate with PMM, Campaigns, and other cross-functional partners to ensure content sequencing, scheduling, and readiness.
  • Build the Measurement Infrastructure: Own Box’s Knotch deployment and content performance taxonomy to track engagement quality, content-influenced pipeline, and channel health across blog, newsletter, video, and social.
  • Identify underperforming content types quarterly and reallocate resources.
  • Make performance data visible and actionable for the team, running monthly performance reviews and quarterly content audits.
  • Track content-touched account data and engagement depth, sharing regularly with Demand Gen and Sales.
  • Grow Owned Channels: Lead blog information architecture and newsletter optimization to improve signup conversion.
  • Own subscriber growth strategy across email newsletter, YouTube, LinkedIn newsletter, and executive voice programs, targeting a 30%+ growth to 70K total subscribers.
  • Modernize the Tech Stack: Lead evaluation and deployment of tools to improve team speed and content quality.
  • Own vendor relationships for content operations tooling.
