  • 5+ years in digital media, journalism, or content, preferably within financial services or business media.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce original pieces with strong perspectives, taking a clear position and backing it up with specific reporting and sourcing.
  • Experience working with freelance contributors, including developing pitches, providing developmental editing, and maintaining editorial standards.
  • Ability to balance speed and accuracy under real deadline pressure, including same-day turnarounds on reactive content.
  • Strong collaborative skills, with experience working alongside social, design, and subject-matter experts.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • An established roster of reliable freelance contributors.
  • On-camera and on-mic skills.

Responsibilities

  • Produce a regular cadence of original content, including short-form reactive pieces, medium-length articles, long-form features, newsletter installments, and podcasts.
  • Participate in strategic editorial planning across various formats.
  • Oversee the end-to-end content lifecycle from pitch approval to publication.
  • Maintain a daily delivery cadence across all platforms.
  • Produce and manage content for daily and weekly newsletters.
  • Manage the creative workflow for external contributors, including soliciting and refining pitches.
  • Provide comprehensive editing for all freelance submissions.
  • Consult with the Deputy Editor to determine which pitches to greenlight and assist in curating the editorial calendar.
  • Provide developmental editing to contributors, honing story narratives and ensuring content is authoritative, engaging, and aligned with the QuestMedia voice.
  • Enforce adherence to the style guide for accuracy, consistent voice, and Canadian financial context.
  • Serve as the reliable backup for the Deputy Editor, managing key tasks to keep the newsroom running efficiently.
