About The Position

Be Strong International is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Content and Communications Specialist to play a pivotal role in shaping, amplifying, and protecting the organization’s reputation, brand, and digital presence. This position is central to ensuring that Be Strong International’s mission, values, and impact are consistently communicated across all platforms, both internal and external. The role requires close collaboration with the CEO, Senior Communications and Marketing Manager, Digital Marketing Specialist, Program Teams, and Business Development Managers. Together, these teams ensure that messaging is compelling, mission‑driven, and aligned with organizational priorities. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is both creative and organized, with strong experience in content creation, social media management, copywriting, newsletters, graphic design, video production, internal communications, event marketing, and public relations support. The Content and Communications Specialist will monitor social media trends, develop recurring content series, and craft storytelling that reflects Be Strong International’s mission, programs, values, and community impact. Ultimately, the Content and Communications Specialist is responsible for strengthening brand awareness, audience engagement, program visibility, community connection, and organizational storytelling through timely, relevant, and compelling communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in communications, digital marketing, PR, or related fields.
  • 3+ years managing corporate social media and content creation.
  • Strong writing skills with ability to adapt to diverse audiences.
  • Graphic design experience (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Video creation/editing skills (required).
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Experience with nonprofit, education, or community‑based initiatives.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve marketing efficiency, content development, or analytics.
  • Experience with SEO tools and campaign tracking platforms.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Creole) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the organizational content calendar across social media, newsletters, website content, events, programs, internal communications, and public‑relations initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager to develop content themes, recurring series, storytelling opportunities, and campaign concepts aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Ensure editorial consistency, tone, and brand alignment across all platforms.
  • Manage day‑to‑day organic social media content, publishing, engagement, and community management.
  • Monitor platform trends, audience behavior, emerging formats, and cultural conversations to develop timely and relevant social media content.
  • Create recurring series that highlight Be Strong International’s mission, programs, and community impact.
  • Develop written, graphic, photo, and video content that communicates Be Strong International’s mission, program objectives, events, outcomes, and community impact.
  • Ensure storytelling is authentic, engaging, and aligned with organizational values.
  • Highlight participant success stories, donor impact, and community partnerships.
  • Create and coordinate newsletters, employee communications, announcements, event collateral, invitations, presentations, flyers, swag, digital graphics, program materials, and other deliverables.
  • Ensure internal communications foster transparency, engagement, and alignment across teams.
  • Support event marketing with creative assets and promotional strategies.
  • Support the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager with press releases, media pitches, talking points, media monitoring, interview preparation, press materials, spokesperson coordination, and follow‑up communications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and community partners.
  • Monitor coverage and ensure timely responses to media inquiries.
  • Create and manage social media content (photos, videos, reels, posts, stories).
  • Maintain a social media calendar and produce monthly performance reports.
  • Monitor and engage with followers, comments, and reviews.
  • Schedule and publish content across designated platforms.
  • Provide performance insights and support campaign amplification.
  • Produce event content for social media series and reels of in‑office activities, food drives, and weekly events with clear calls to action.
  • Maintain Be Strong International’s overarching brand consistency across communications, campaigns, events, and programs.
  • Develop and update brochures, flyers, newsletters, annual reports, presentations, signage, digital assets, and other collateral.
  • Provide graphic design and creative support for program, event, fundraising, and outreach initiatives.
  • Adapt materials for print, web, email, social media, and partner use.
  • Maintain organized brand assets, templates, logos, photography, and creative files.
  • Develop and coordinate marketing materials for programs, events, workshops, fundraisers, campaigns, and community initiatives.
  • Create flyers, invitations, digital graphics, signage, programs, banners, presentations, handouts, and promotional materials.
  • Support event photography, video, interviews, live social media coverage, and post‑event recaps.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and partners to ensure event communications are complete and timely.
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, pitches, talking points, fact sheets, and briefing documents.
  • Research media outlets, reporters, community publications, radio programs, television opportunities, and podcasts.
  • Maintain and update media contact lists.
  • Monitor media coverage, organizational mentions, and community conversations.
  • Assist with interview scheduling, spokesperson preparation, and follow‑up.
  • Maintain an archive of media coverage and publicity.
  • Create branded graphics, social media assets, flyers, presentations, newsletters, signage, brochures, and other visual materials.
  • Use Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other approved tools to produce high‑quality creative assets.
  • Maintain consistency with organizational brand standards.
  • Coordinate with photographers, videographers, designers, printers, and vendors.
  • Review materials for visual accuracy, quality, accessibility, and production readiness.
  • Capture or coordinate photographs and videos at programs, events, interviews, and organizational activities.
  • Develop short‑form videos, reels, testimonials, program highlights, event recaps, and promotional content.
  • Edit video and audio content for social media, websites, presentations, newsletters, and campaigns.
  • Maintain an organized photo and video library.
  • Ensure proper consent and media releases are secured.
  • Provide approved website copy, photographs, program information, events, biographies, and other content to the Digital Marketing Specialist.
  • Build or update basic webpages and content sections as needed.
  • Review website content for accuracy, clarity, branding, and timeliness.
  • Collaborate on recommendations, metadata, page structure, accessibility, and performance.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Specialist to ensure campaigns include aligned content, landing pages, tracking, automation, and reporting.
  • Support Development with donor communications, fundraising campaign content, impact stories, and stewardship materials.
  • Support Programs with recruitment materials, participant communications, event promotion, and outreach content.
  • Support leadership with presentations, talking points, and organizational messaging.
