About The Position

Gather and analyze credit and collateral information on current and potential clients.  Make appropriate credit decisions and structure loans to protect the banks interest.

Requirements

  • Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.  This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Economics and Accounting—Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Communication— Good interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Sales and Marketing—Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting, and selling products or services.
  • Clerical—Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Bank Secrecy Act – In the performance of all the respective tasks and duties, employee will maintain knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act regulations and all other regulatory, security and bank policies and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience to include credit training.
  • Residential mortgage underwriting experience within the financial sector.

Nice To Haves

  • Residential mortgage underwriting to the secondary market is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the advisability of granting credit for diversified types of loans
  • Calculates cash flow / debt to income ratio
  • Verifies collateral
  • Forwards approval package to documentation
  • Exercises independent judgment in granting loans within specified dollar amounts while adhering to all lending policies, procedures and regulations as well as bank policies and procedures
  • Responsible for soliciting, negotiating and coordinating the closing of routine residential, installment and construction loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures
  • Identifies and refers potential sales opportunities as appropriate
  • Promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customers relations and refers customers to appropriate staff for new services as necessary
  • Assists with special projects as needed
  • Maintains prescribed security measures and controls intended to protect the bank against criminal and fraudulent operations and unnecessary risk or exposure
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor
  • Attend seminars and meetings as appropriate
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
