About The Position

As a Consumer Loan Originations Representative, you’ll serve as a key point of contact for members, guiding them through the lending process from start to finish while identifying opportunities to support their financial well-being. The primary purpose of this role is to deliver an elevated consumer lending experience while maximizing sales of Credit Union products and services.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport over the phone
  • Proven ability to multitask, stay organized, and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive mindset and ability to find solutions in any situation
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within a team
  • General understanding of lending practices and regulatory requirements within financial services
  • Comfort using technology, including Microsoft Office and internal systems for reporting and cross-selling
  • Knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC requirements (or willingness to learn and complete required training)
  • Familiarity with OceanAir products and services (or ability to quickly become knowledgeable)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in lending, banking, or a sales-driven role preferred
  • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding goals

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish bilingual skills are a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Originate consumer loans by phone and guide members through the full application process
  • Manage and follow up on applications from online channels, ensuring a smooth and timely experience
  • Maintain an active pipeline and stay organized with consistent follow-up throughout each stage
  • Collect and review application details and supporting documentation (income, employment, identity, collateral, etc.) to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Communicate loan and credit card decisions clearly and professionally, including next steps and answering questions
  • Partner with underwriting by communicating stipulations and helping resolve outstanding conditions
  • Guide members through funding and closing steps, including documentation, title and lien requirements, and payment setup
  • Document all activity accurately within lending systems/CRM, including notes, updates, and communication history
  • Build strong relationships with members and recommend products and services that meet their individual needs
  • Support sales goals by identifying opportunities for additional products and services
  • Maintain high-quality member service while meeting call and productivity expectations
  • Identify and escalate any fraud concerns or red flags in accordance with procedures
