About The Position

As a Consumer Lending Specialist, you serve as a key point of contact for owners, helping them understand and access consumer loan solutions while ensuring accurate, compliant processing from application through funding. Key responsibilities include taking inbound calls and responding to email requests; interviewing owners and completing consumer loan applications for underwriting; processing, closing, and disbursing approved loans; identifying appropriate lending and related product options based on needs; maintaining daily follow-up on assigned loan queues; and adhering to internal policies, security procedures, and applicable regulations.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of lending experience (lender or processor)
Knowledge of credit union products and ownership
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
Accurate typing/calculator skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to collaborate as a team
Ability to work flexible hours as needed

Responsibilities

Take inbound calls and respond to email requests.
Interview owners and complete consumer loan applications for underwriting.
Process, close, and disburse approved loans.
Identify appropriate lending and related product options based on needs.
Maintain daily follow-up on assigned loan queues.
Adhere to internal policies, security procedures, and applicable regulations.
Review lending queue, prioritizing items that need follow-up, and checking for updates from underwriting.
Provide clear next steps and timeframes to keep owners informed.
Verify details, prepare closing documents, and coordinate funding.
Confirm forms and disclosures are complete.
Document actions carefully to support audit-ready files.
Stay organized, communicate status updates to teammates, and wrap up by confirming what’s ready for the next business day.
