About The Position

As a Consumer Lending Specialist, you serve as a key point of contact for owners, helping them understand and access consumer loan solutions while ensuring accurate, compliant processing from application through funding. Key responsibilities include taking inbound calls and responding to email requests; interviewing owners and completing consumer loan applications for underwriting; processing, closing, and disbursing approved loans; identifying appropriate lending and related product options based on needs; maintaining daily follow-up on assigned loan queues; and adhering to internal policies, security procedures, and applicable regulations.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of lending experience (lender or processor)
Knowledge of credit union products and ownership
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail; accurate typing/calculator skills
Ability to work independently, collaborate as a team, and work flexible hours as needed

Responsibilities

Taking inbound calls and responding to email requests
Interviewing owners and completing consumer loan applications for underwriting
Processing, closing, and disbursing approved loans
Identifying appropriate lending and related product options based on needs
Maintaining daily follow-up on assigned loan queues
Adhering to internal policies, security procedures, and applicable regulations
Reviewing lending queue, prioritizing items that need follow-up, and checking for updates from underwriting
Providing clear next steps and timeframes to keep owners informed
Verifying details, preparing closing documents, and coordinating funding
Confirming forms and disclosures are complete
Documenting actions carefully to support audit-ready files
Communicating status updates to teammates
Confirming what’s ready for the next business day
