About The Position

Guidehouse’s State Health Actuarial team strives for a more resilient and sustainable community health infrastructure by guiding state decision makers in program implementation. We help state-run programs with infrastructure and regulatory compliance, waiver and state policy, monitoring, and operational effectiveness. Our experts assist clients in financial budgeting and reporting, rate development and value-based payment, supplemental payments, waiver neutrality, and cost sharing. Consultants support project teams both on client engagements (on and off-site) and internal projects. Responsibilities will include client and project management, data and information analysis, solution implementation and generation of project results. As a Consultant, a key function of your role will be to support the development and creation of quality deliverables that support essential project workstreams. You will gather and analyze data, identify gaps and trends, and make recommendations related to baseline performance and structure, as well as established best practices and benchmarks. As a Consultant, you will follow a clearly defined career path and continue to deepen your specialized industry knowledge and consulting skills. As you develop project management skills and leadership abilities, you will have the opportunity to progress to the Senior Consultant level.

Requirements

  • Minimum 0 years of experience.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program through Fall 2026 and graduate by Summer 2027.
  • Degree concentration in Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Insurance, Mathematics, Risk Management, Statistics, or similar is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or anytime in the future. Students possessing F-1 or J-1 visas are excluded from interview schedules or being hired for this position.
  • Must have passed at least one SOA Actuarial exam at the time of application.

Nice To Haves

  • Scheduled to have completed 2 exams by March 2027.
  • Previous internship or work experience preferred.
  • Healthcare payer experience and/or education in health economics is strongly desired.
  • Willingness to commit to a hybrid work arrangement of 2-3 days a week in-office.
  • Excellent quantitative analysis skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate data into graphic or visual representations.
  • Knowledge of Business Analytics software such as Access, SAS or R, and/or SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of and application of healthcare research resources.
  • Understanding of market/financial analysis in context of healthcare payer needs.
