About The Position

HTC Construction Workers help extend telecommunications services to the local community. They interpret routine service and engineering work orders that show how cable should be laid in trenches, plowed, or erected on pole lines. They assist with placing cable in underground conduit systems and installing direct-buried cable using plow, digging, trenching, and boring equipment. They restore disturbed surfaces, including concrete and bituminous pavement, and trim trees and perform other landscaping duties as needed. The role may have varying levels of responsibility and pay. Relevant skills, knowledge, and prior experience are considered when determining applicant selection and placement. Depending on the applicant’s qualifications and departmental needs, the position may be part-time or full-time. Applicants must hold a CDL permit to be considered for full-time status.

Requirements

High school degree or GED.
Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or lift more than 100 pounds.
Valid state driver’s license with a good driving record.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Ability to operate and properly maintain automotive, bracing, hoisting, and hydraulic equipment.
CDL permit required for consideration for a full-time role.

Responsibilities

Assist with placing cable within underground conduit systems.
Place direct-buried cable using plow, digging, trenching, and boring equipment.
Restore disturbed surfaces, including concrete and bituminous pavement.
Trim trees and perform other landscaping duties as necessary.
Operate and properly maintain automotive, bracing, hoisting, and hydraulic equipment.
