About The Position

Shaw Construction is hiring a Self Perform Surveyor to support our Self Perform Concrete and Framing operations across the Colorado Front Range / Mountain Region. This role covers layout, staking, and formwork verification, along with quality control and quantity take-off support from early estimating through construction close-out – a great fit for someone who wants variety across office and field work on large, complex commercial projects.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in surveying (minimum)
  • 5+ years of surveying experience
  • Solid working knowledge of concrete systems, formwork, and shoring
  • Comfortable with AutoCAD, Trimble Access/Business Center
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required)
  • OSHA 10 required
  • Physical ability to climb stairs/ladders, work on active construction sites, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's in land surveying or civil engineering preferred
  • Civil 3D or MicroStation a plus
  • Procore, Bluebeam, Navisworks, or BIM360 a plus
  • State Licensure (FS/PS) a plus
  • GPS experience a plus
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • OSHA 30 a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Perform concrete layout, staking, and formwork verification, plus general project layout and QC compliance checks
  • Calculate points and load Trimble stations; set control using AutoCAD; coordinate embed, hold-down, and penetration layout
  • Support estimating with quantity take-offs, constructability reviews, and scope coordination
  • Coordinate Concrete Lift Drawings and formwork design planning with key trades (Geotech, civil, steel, framing, masonry)
  • Perform routine field inspections during construction to support the QA/QC program
  • Utilize robotic total stations, optical/digital levels, GPS equipment, and data collectors
  • Document and address quality issues promptly, and communicate across the project team – PMs, PEs, subcontractors, and inspectors
  • Train and mentor Shaw team members and concrete/framing crew as needed
  • Collaborate with Shaw's BIM and Framing Panel Design departments as needed
