About The Position

This role is for the Musselwhite Project located in Pickle Lake, ON, Canada, with a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off, working 12-hour shifts. Travel involves flights from the closest airport to the point of hire to Thunder Bay, followed by a chartered flight to the site, where accommodation is provided in a remote camp setting. The scope of work involves the underground construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of the 1470mL Pump Station and associated dewatering infrastructure as part of the PQD Expansion 1 project. This includes installing cone sumps, structural steel, sump covers, monorails, dewatering pump skids, sludge sump infrastructure, piping, civil/structural works, power distribution, electrical, instrumentation, automation, communications systems, borehole cable installations, and dewatering piping. The project duration is approximately 6 to 8 months.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Lead-Construction Miner
  • Must understand underground work environment
  • Must understand responsibilities of leadership
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively

  • Minimum 3 years construction mining experience
  • Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.
  • 2 years’ experience in a related construction role
  • Basic Knowledge of the mining industry
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to read, review and understand Standard Work Procedures, safety programs and applicable mine regulations
  • Basic understanding and ability to read civil prints and or construction prints
  • Must have the ability to adapt to change

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and control activities of a construction group to ensure the project is completed in accordance to company standards and safety practices.
  • Liaise with technical personnel and update site management on activities, progress and challenges.
  • Suggest methods and procedures to minimize project cost and ensure work meets design specifications according to client requirements.
  • Perform construction mining tasks efficiently with little to no supervision.
  • Guide less experienced construction miners.
  • Perform construction mining tasks such as forming, concrete work, vent doors, man doors, vent walls, sump installations, pipe installation, ventilation and fan installations.
  • Perform construction work such as shotcreeting, building refuge stations, crusher stations, muck bins, conveyor installation, timber and concrete work, sump installations, installation of vent tubing (air, water and pumping lines), other construction work and maintenance jobs as required.
