About The Position

Spiniello Companies is a privately held, national, full-service utility contractor founded in 1922. We are one of the few companies that fully self-performs all aspects of open cut and specialty pipe rehabilitation. With headquarters in New Jersey, we also have office locations in Maryland, Washington D.C., and California. This role is responsible for the management of construction projects, including the day-to-day field activities to ensure project milestone and overall schedule completion dates are met. The position requires hands-on expertise in deep cut excavation, particularly for gravity sewer installations, and involves leading the planning and execution of complex bypass pumping systems and ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations. The Superintendent will manage and oversee the use of slide rail systems, coordinate the implementation of engineered support of excavation (SOE) systems, and supervise field crews in technically demanding, high-risk deep excavation operations. This role demands advanced problem-solving skills to mitigate risks associated with underground utility construction, aligning field execution with project goals, and driving safety, quality, and productivity standards. The Superintendent will also support project teams with technical expertise, maintain daily logs, ensure client satisfaction, project quality, and cost control, and conform to corporate policies. Regular communication with project managers, property managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other staff is essential. The role involves managing and coordinating work to ensure consistency with contract documents, verifying installation quality, obtaining required inspections, documenting all physical work, managing scope changes, and overseeing the punch list process. Weekly job site/safety meetings with subcontractors are required, along with providing consistent feedback to the project team. The Superintendent is also responsible for enforcing the company’s Health and Safety Program, conducting safety inspections, and working with the team to plan high-risk tasks, encouraging employee involvement in safety.
