About The Position

Our client is a mission-driven residential builder focused on creating and preserving affordable homeownership opportunities across the Greater San Francisco area. Their work includes new construction and acquisition-rehabilitation projects that help first-time homeowners and long-time homeowners build stability through housing. The Superintendent will lead field operations for residential construction and rehabilitation projects across the Bay Area. This person will coordinate subcontractors, supervise field staff and Crew Leaders, manage volunteers on site, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role is best suited to an experienced hands-on builder with strong wood-frame multifamily experience, solid field leadership skills, and the patience and communication style needed to mentor others on site.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in residential or multifamily wood frame construction.
  • Ability to read and execute construction drawings, specifications, and project details.
  • Strong knowledge of framing, building envelope, and cladding systems.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, inspections, schedules, materials, and daily site activity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel; ability to learn construction management software.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and ability to travel between job sites in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin Counties.
  • Ability to pass a background check in accordance with state and county law.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Superintendent or lead field supervisor on multifamily residential projects.
  • Experience using Procore or similar construction management software.
  • Experience supervising volunteers, apprentices, trainees, or junior construction staff.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
  • Exposure to concrete formwork, MEP coordination, and finish carpentry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day field operations across new construction and acquisition-rehabilitation projects.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, internal field staff, Crew Leaders, and volunteers.
  • Lead weekly field coordination meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain project schedules, including critical path schedules and three-week look-aheads.
  • Monitor progress, identify issues early, and resolve schedule, quality, safety, and coordination challenges.
  • Review work in place to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, building codes, permits, and quality standards.
  • Complete daily reports, field logs, and photo documentation using Procore.
  • Prepare daily work plans for Crew Leaders, staff, and volunteers.
  • Verify layout and key dimensions through site work, foundations, framing, and finishes.
  • Coordinate material takeoffs, procurement, and deliveries.
  • Prepare for and attend required inspections.
  • Maintain a safe jobsite and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and internal safety policies.
  • Coach and support Crew Leaders, recurring volunteers, apprentices, trainees, and less-experienced staff.
  • Create a positive, productive jobsite culture that supports both project delivery and the organization’s mission.
