About The Position

Novacom is a commercial General Contractor based in Surrey, BC, valuing people, relationships, innovation, and culture. We are hiring a Site Assistant / Carpenter for a fixed-term position on a new McDonald's restaurant build in Penticton, BC. This is a hands-on field role supporting the Site Superintendent to keep the site running smoothly through to completion. The term runs from August 3, 2026 to approximately the end of October 31, 2026, tracking the project's construction schedule.

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience in the construction industry
• Solid hands-on construction knowledge — understanding of the construction process, materials, tools and machinery, and trade sequencing
• Ability to work independently without close supervision
• Ability to communicate and problem-solve effectively with supervisors, team members and subcontractors
• Comfortable with (or willing to learn) Procore for daily logs and photos
• Must have independent transportation and the ability to get to the Penticton site

Nice To Haves

• Carpentry ticket or trade qualification an asset — we welcome apprentices (Level 1, 2, 3) and Red Seal Carpenters

Responsibilities

• Work on site under the Site Superintendent to keep the site running smoothly
• Perform handyman work and carpentry tasks (e.g. backing, building hoarding, formwork) plus all other assistance required on site
• Clean and organize the site for trade access and efficiency
• Call trades ahead of scheduled work to confirm readiness and help keep the schedule moving through efficient, quality work
• Complete daily hazard assessments, site inspections, sign-in sheets, and trade orientations under our COR Safety Program
• Take progress photos and support daily logs and documentation in Procore
• Wrap up all items at close of the project
