About The Position

The Construction Sales Specialist is responsible for managing the sales process and driving profitable sales growth within an assigned sales territory to both existing and new Airgas customers. They are responsible for meeting and exceeding both corporate and regional objectives for profitable sales growth, A/R management, and customer retention within their assigned territory. The successful candidate will be one who can cultivate relationships and provide solutions to both existing and new Airgas customers and who utilizes technology to enhance their productivity. This position can be based out of any Airgas Branch within the service area, ranging from Cartersville, GA, through central GA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in common email, spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle with insurance coverage.
  • Excellent skills in building alignment and navigating agreements to meet customer needs.
  • High-level presentation and public speaking skills
  • Ability to foster understanding and connect with individuals from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to successfully contribute to the role’s core goals and essential functions.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours to support our customers’ success.
  • Over 4 years of successful sales experience in industrial or commercial markets.
  • Knowledge of contractors and construction segment.
  • Experience managing, accessing and soliciting job sites.
  • Salesforce experience.
  • Strong negotiation and selling skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours to meet customer needs.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different personalities and backgrounds.
  • Physical ability to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • A proven background contributing to growth in industrial, commercial, or educational markets.
  • Familiarity with, or a strong desire to learn about, industrial, specialty, and medical gases.
  • Knowledge of industrial/specialty gases and MRO/safety products (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements sales plans utilizing Airgas' sales initiatives and guidelines in order to service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts.
  • Qualifies and connects with sales leads.
  • Nurtures customer relationships by developing a thorough understanding of the customer's business and establishing a consultative relationship.
  • Prepares sales proposals by quoting pricing, establishing credit terms, and estimated date of delivery to customer based on knowledge of Airgas' production/delivery schedules and logistics.
  • Keeps current with industry insights, current Airgas product mixes, and stays informed of market trends by gathering current relevant marketplace intelligence including information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
  • Collaborates with internal resources to accomplish success milestones.
  • Establishes and maintains clear and consistent lines of communication with internal departments relative to customer successes, customer opportunities, new customer developments and other customer specific information.
  • Maintains and submits sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses) as requested by District Manager through SAP.
  • Actively reviews and manages existing customer Accounts Receivable balances to help protect Airgas working capital investment and support the reduction of financial risk.
  • Lead Generation: Conduct research to identify potential customers and monitor construction projects within the assigned area.
  • Sales Execution: Present tailored product solutions, address customer objections, and prepare proposals, quotes, and contracts.
  • Account Management: Plan work schedules to qualify and close new accounts while maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Client Relations: Build rapport with clients, resolve inquiries professionally, and collaborate with internal teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Market Strategy: Stay updated on industry trends and competition to maintain a competitive edge while upholding company values.
