About The Position

Join a subcontractor supporting the construction of a new terminal expansion project at Washington Dulles International Airport. This opportunity provides hands-on safety oversight within an active airport construction environment where safety, coordination, and compliance are critical to project success. The Construction Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence while working directly with craft personnel, subcontractors, supervision, and project leadership to identify hazards, maintain compliance, and support the safe execution of terminal construction activities. The role will involve supporting multiple trades while ensuring construction operations are performed safely in a highly regulated aviation environment.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30 Certification or Higher
  • Minimum 5-10 Years of Construction Safety Experience
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of Airport Construction Safety Requirements
  • Working knowledge of Commercial Building Construction
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of Construction Logistics & Site Coordination
  • Working knowledge of Material Handling Operations
  • Working knowledge of Heavy Equipment Operations
  • Working knowledge of Fall Protection & Elevated Work
  • Working knowledge of Aerial Lifts & MEWPs
  • Working knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
  • Working knowledge of Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions
  • Working knowledge of Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation
  • Working knowledge of Site Safety Audits and Compliance Inspections

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily field safety oversight for terminal construction activities
  • Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
  • Monitor subcontractor work activities, material handling operations, and equipment usage
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), permits, and pre-task plans
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and airport-specific safety requirements
  • Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions
  • Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
  • Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project
