About The Position

Join a contractor supporting a major airport expansion and infrastructure improvement project at Dulles Airport in Chantilly, VA. This opportunity provides hands-on safety oversight for active construction operations associated with new airport additions and facility improvements. The Construction Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence by working directly with craft personnel, subcontractors, supervisors, and project leadership to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and support the safe execution of construction activities in an active airport environment.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Minimum 5+ years of construction safety experience
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of Commercial Construction Safety
  • Working knowledge of Airport Construction Safety Requirements
  • Working knowledge of Heavy Equipment Operations
  • Working knowledge of Construction Logistics & Site Coordination
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of Fall Protection & Elevated Work
  • Working knowledge of Aerial Lifts & MEWPs
  • Working knowledge of Material Handling Operations
  • Working knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
  • Working knowledge of Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions
  • Working knowledge of Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation
  • Working knowledge of Site Inspections & Compliance Audits

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily field safety oversight for airport construction activities
  • Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
  • Monitor construction activities, equipment operations, and contractor work areas
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), permits, and pre-task plans
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
  • Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions
  • Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
  • Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project
