Extraordinary Projects need Exceptional Talent JOB DESCRIPTION : Fisk Electric Company is searching for a Safety Manager to manage the health and safety of our California Division. The Safety Manager will manage and enforce the Fisk Corporate Health and Safety programs in conjunction with our client’s individual health and safety plans of each project. This position reports to the California General Manager and Corporate Safety Director. The responsibilities and requirements of this position are listed below.

Requirements

  • 10 years of progressive safety experience in construction with an emphasis in commercial and industrial electrical safety and electrical hazard mitigation.
  • An OSHA-500 is required.
  • Competency in, and the ability to apply the safety principles found in the NFPA-70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
  • Intimate knowledge of electrical safety and hazard mitigation requirements in high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage systems.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and the application of electrical safety mitigation processes for employee safety.
  • Familiarity with occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR by the American Red Cross or its equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills.
  • Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to assume multiple tasks at the same time effectively.
  • Ability to solve problems and generate viable solutions that promote worker safety.
  • Must be able to meet the Company’s minimum standard for Company vehicle drivers.
  • Must be able to meet any customer’s badging/background requirements.
  • Must be proficient and able to provide extensive in-person safety training and mentoring to field employees in confined spaces, electrical safety, forklift, lock-out/tag-out, hazardous communication, ladder safety, excavation, and trench safety, fall protection, respiratory protection, and other topics as required.

Nice To Haves

  • A Board of Certified Safety Professional CHST certification, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Electrical Safety Technician (CEST), Certified Electrical Safety Worker (CESW), or Certified Electrical Safety Professional (CESCP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onboarding and safety orientation for new employees.
  • Create training certifications and maintain electronic safety training files of all employee credentials.
  • Monitor safety performance across all jobsites within the Division’s geographical area.
  • Conduct workplace safety audits and take appropriate action to correct any safety issues or deficiencies.
  • Conduct weekly toolbox safety meetings and additional stand downs as needed.
  • Purchase and maintain adequate stock of safety PPE and equipment.
  • Manage the electrical PPE program in accordance to Company policy and established best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Assist project managers and/or superintendents with the development and execution of job specific safety plans.
  • Review accident procedures and apply the Company’s accident reporting policy.
  • Communicate with physicians and provide injury case management assistance with the Corporate Safety Director.
  • Assist with the Company’s return to work program.
  • Investigate and complete incident/accident investigation reports and submit them to the Corporate Safety Director.
  • Facilitate post-incident, reasonable suspicion, and random drug testing as needed.
  • Maintain recordkeeping of OSHA 300 logs and forms.
  • Provide extensive in-person safety training and mentoring to employees in confined spaces, electrical safety, forklift, lock-out/tag-out, hazardous communication, ladder safety, excavation, and trench safety, fall protection, respiratory protection, and other topics as required.
  • Work effectively with other department managers.
  • Monitor fleet driving performance and provide updates to General Manager.
  • Facilitate background checks when required.
  • Participate in Corporate monthly safety performance meeting.
  • Ensure required state and federal employment posters are up to date.
  • Attending industry conferences to further training and electrical safety knowledge.
  • Assist with reviewing and developing Method of Procedures (MOP) for task safety.
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOP)s, including electrical safety topics, that align with the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and review the minutes of safety meetings.
  • Maintain SDS and the Hazardous Communication Program.
  • Manage and enforce the policies outlined in the Fisk Electric Environmental Health & Safety Management Plan and Injury & Illness Prevention Plan.
