About The Position

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a CMT Engineering Technician / Special Inspector to join our growing team in Kennesaw, Georgia. In this role, you'll work on a variety of high-profile commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare, transportation, and infrastructure projects throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area. As a CMT Engineering Technician, you will play a vital role in helping ensure the quality and safety of construction projects by performing field testing, inspections, and documentation activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction materials testing, construction inspection, geotechnical testing, or related field experience
  • Current ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I Certification
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic field reports
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • ICC Soils Special Inspector
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
  • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
  • Additional ICC, NICET, ACI, or construction inspection certifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, grout, mortar, and reinforcing steel in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and project specifications.
  • Observe construction activities and collect field data on active construction sites.
  • Review construction plans and specifications in preparation for field observations and testing assignments.
  • Document testing results, observations, and site conditions using electronic reporting systems such as Metafield.
  • Communicate testing and inspection results with NOVA project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients.
  • Assist project teams in identifying and documenting construction issues, deficiencies, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment in accordance with industry standards.
  • Safely work on commercial and heavy civil construction sites throughout the Atlanta area.
