About The Position

Willmer Engineering is hiring part-time Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians for its Atlanta team. The role is intended for civil engineering students who want hands-on experience while completing their degree. Technicians work on commercial, industrial, transportation, and GDOT infrastructure projects, performing a mix of field and laboratory work. Training is provided on testing standards and equipment, with mentorship and opportunities for professional development and advancement, including a possible path to full-time work after graduation. The schedule may include nights and weekends based on project needs.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a civil engineering program or a related field.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to lift 70 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Nice To Haves

• Interest in geotechnical, materials, or construction engineering.
• Prior laboratory, field, or construction experience; this is not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
• Work in the field and laboratory according to project needs.
• Break and test concrete cylinders in the laboratory and record results.
• Conduct testing in accordance with ASTM, ACI, and GDOT standards.
• Learn to operate nuclear density gauges, compression machines, coring equipment, and other testing equipment.
• Prepare accurate field reports and documentation.
• Communicate with contractors, engineers, and project managers.
• Follow company safety procedures and quality standards.
• Work nights and weekends as projects require.
