About The Position

As a full-time Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring construction projects, from local eateries to major sports venues, are built with quality and safety at the forefront. Whether you're new to the field or bring years of expertise, you'll receive hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities to advance. Seasoned professionals can take on leadership roles, guiding projects and mentoring colleagues. This role involves performing field and laboratory testing on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates, collecting and preparing samples for analysis, interpreting test results, and preparing detailed reports. You will also work closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure all work meets specifications and safety guidelines. The role may require shifting work hours based on project demands and weather, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half). Occasional travel to support other offices is covered with per diem and lodging.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in a related field preferred for advanced levels.
  • 0-2 years relevant experience for Associate Technician/Technician I.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent with an associate degree for Technician II.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent with an associate degree for Technician III.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience for Technician IV.
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Basic math proficiency, including an understanding of measurements and units of weight.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as: Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditions, Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially long periods, Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment).
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours when necessary.
  • Understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travel.
  • Candidates must comply with our Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
  • Only candidates with valid employment eligibility (I-9) will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in construction is preferred but not required.
  • Associate degree in a related field preferred for advanced levels.
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience is a plus for Technician IV.
  • Active Industry certifications such as: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician, and/or International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector ICC Reinforced Concrete and ICC Masonry are strongly preferred.
