About The Position

This role is perfect for individuals looking to enhance their skills in construction materials testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other relevant materials while gaining additional industry certifications. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you will spend most of your time outdoors, participating in projects and ensuring their integrity and safety. Your contributions will be recognized as you witness projects come to life and gain valuable expertise. The role involves comprehending project specifications before fieldwork, precisely documenting observations and test outcomes related to construction materials, and handling data using field and lab information systems. You will also be responsible for verifying that field and laboratory equipment are precise and comply with industry standards, adhering to International Building Code (IBC) guidelines for testing and inspecting construction materials, and communicating with supervisors, contractors, and clients to report on project status and address any issues. Experience shifting work hours based on project needs and weather conditions, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half) is expected.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
  • Two(2) or more active certifications: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician; International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils); DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
  • Understanding of a fluctuating work schedule and occasional travel
  • Have a valid United States driver's license or an International Driving Permit (IDP) for driving in the US, with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to operate a company-assigned vehicle safely (Truck or SUV)
