WHB Engineers is a well-established and growing Civil Engineering and Construction Management firm with offices in San Diego, San Mateo, Dublin, Pleasant Hill, and Chico, California. Our firm provides a full array of engineering, public works design, construction, and project management services. Our staff works on a broad array of challenging and interesting public and private projects. We are looking for a Construction Manager candidate, with industry experience (five years minimum preferred). This is a position for a talented Construction Manager seeking a growth opportunity to advance their skills. This position requires the ability to be onsite at projects as needed. The ideal candidate for this opportunity can work independently with minimum supervision, has sound construction management skills, is team oriented, personable, and possesses a strong desire to make a positive contribution to the business. This position requires a well-organized and versatile individual who is experienced in construction management with some experience in project management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management
  • Preferred minimum of five years of experience in construction management working as Owner's Representative, Contractor, Engineering or Architectural firm
  • Onsite experience managing contractors, engineers, and architects
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and detail-oriented skills
  • Solid experience with the MS Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Experience with scheduling software (i.e., MS Project and/or Primavera) strongly preferred
  • Experience with small to large projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills including an ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with clients
  • Experience working with public agencies a plus
  • CCM, LEED or PMP Certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work under the general supervision of the Senior Construction Manager, managing projects and serving as a liaison between owners, contractors, engineers, and architects
  • Manage and conduct regularly scheduled meetings, providing organized and articulate minutes and/or follow-up
  • Ensure projects are running smoothly and are on schedule, identifying problems areas and working with the team to provide solutions
  • Assist with constructability review by reading drawings, identifying issues, working with responsible team for resolution
  • Coordinate testing and inspections
  • Assist with review and preparation of estimates
  • Review contractor change order requests and other project data as directed
  • Prepare thorough and organized status reports
  • Review, log, and electronically file schedules, RFI's, submittmitals, change order requests and other project data as directed
  • Review contractor payment applications and verify the percentage of work completed aligns with the values on the pay app
  • Perform other duties as assigned
