They are seeking motivated individuals interested in construction to join as a Construction Management Intern for the summer. This internship offers hands-on learning in various construction management areas, including field management, project management, preconstruction services, virtual design & construction coordination, and safety, depending on placement.

Requirements

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline
• Genuine interest in the construction industry
• Strong desire to learn and welcome new challenges
• Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week for a summer internship
• Ability to work independently and value teamwork and collaboration
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings and evenings, to meet project needs
• Work may be performed in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions, including heat and cold
• Frequent physical activity includes standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder level, pushing, and pulling
• Occasional activity includes sitting and using a computer or viewing a computer screen
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with project management tasks such as managing project finances, maintaining contract documents, issuing subcontracts, preparing submittal schedules, coordinating meetings, RFIs, and change order requests.
• Explore the importance of Safety and Quality Control programs, coordinate actions to address problems, and create safety and audit procedures by conducting on-site safety inspections.
• Gain hands-on experience in field management, learning to lead on-site activities to ensure project delivery on time and within budget.
• Understand the preconstruction process by assisting with bid package preparation, evaluating subcontractor bids, reviewing proposals/specifications and drawings, and executing material takeoffs.
• Learn about the latest technology in construction, including creating, editing, and running clash detection on 3D BIM models (structure, interior, exterior architectural elements, and MEP systems) using applications like AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, and Archicad.
• Participate in the Hourigan Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) by practicing safe work habits, reporting concerns, attending training, and eliminating hazards within your capability and control with assistance from safety staff.
