About The Position

Intermountain Electric (IME) is seeking a Construction Management Intern for their 2027 program. This internship offers an insider's look into the electrical contracting industry through real-world experience on active projects. The program is tailored to the intern's specific career interests and goals, allowing them to focus on elements of construction that excite them most. Interns will gain immersive experience across all project phases, from planning and preconstruction to field execution, and will learn directly from industry professionals.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program in Construction Management or Project Management
  • Ability to obtain an OSHA 10 certification within the first month.
  • Curious and ready to jump in, bringing enthusiasm, a strong aptitude to grow, and an eagerness to learn on the job.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated leadership potential and a collaborative team attitude.
  • Trustworthy and ethical, with high integrity when interacting with internal teams, field crews, and external partners.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and connect with team members across the field and office.
  • A problem-solving, analytical mindset focused on evaluating details, spotting better ways to do things, and bringing practical solutions to life.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and quick to pick up new tools and software.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Help shape project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Jump into preconstruction analysis, working with bid strategies, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Research pricing for materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings.
  • Partner with the estimating team to streamline data processes, refine reporting, and keep workflows running smoothly.
  • Conduct site walkthroughs alongside safety professionals to ensure active job sites meet the highest safety standards.
  • Gain hands-on experience with industry standard software like Procore and MS Project, plus trade-specific tools like Accubid and Change Order Pro.
