About The Position

JRM Construction's Summer Internship Program is a 10-week paid experience designed to introduce students to the construction industry. Interns work alongside experienced professionals in both field and office settings, gaining meaningful, hands-on exposure to real projects. The program provides valuable insight and practical experience to help prepare students for a successful transition into full-time employment. Interns will have the opportunity to focus on key project areas such as Corporate Interiors, Core & Shell (Upgrades/Ground Up), Education, Entertainment & Exhibitions, Hospitality, and Retail.

Requirements

  • Currently a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering/Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated interest in construction management with a willingness to learn and grow within the industry.
  • Previous exposure to construction projects through work experience, internships, or trade-based roles.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and support trade coordination and construction sequencing.
  • Attend project meetings, coordination meetings, and inspections as required.
  • Assist in maintaining daily logs, site reports, photos, and progress documentation.
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, and document control.
  • Assist with inspections, punch lists, and quality documentation.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, pricing analyses, and cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintain subcontractor lists, supplier information, and estimating databases.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the estimating process.
  • Support bid preparation, tender documentation, and value engineering reviews.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records, project files, and cost databases.
  • Support Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents on active projects.
  • Assist with project documentation, submittals, and information distribution.
  • Attend project meetings and document key discussions and action items.
  • Help track material deliveries and maintain project records.
  • Perform additional project-related tasks as assigned by the team.
