About The Position

South College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty/Instructor for Construction Management. We are a growing institution committed to providing a diverse and inclusive work environment. The primary responsibility of faculty members is to deliver quality instruction in assigned courses, adhering to the approved academic program curriculum. Faculty are encouraged to participate in curriculum development, institutional committees, and scholarship/service activities. Responsibilities include timely communication with students and administrative officials, maintaining academic standards, completing student documentation, managing classroom activities, and staying current with best practices in the field. Adjunct faculty teaching regularly must participate in at least one professional development activity annually and adhere to all institutional policies.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree Programs: Doctorate or Master’s degree in discipline or Master’s degree with 18 in discipline.
  • Baccalaureate Degree Programs: Doctorate or Master’s degree in discipline or Master’s degree with 18 in discipline.
  • Documentation of applicable licenses/certifications is required.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication often in stressful situations involving students or co-workers.
  • Fast-paced work environment requiring quick adaptation skills in a changing strategic and tactical workplace.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience and/or practical/clinical experience in the discipline preferred.
  • Participation in institution/school/department committees is invited and encouraged.
  • Participation in scholarship and service activities is encouraged.
  • Actively participate in institutions and/or School/Department committees assigned to or volunteered for.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality instruction in each assigned course within the approved academic program curriculum.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of the curriculum, including course sequence and student learning outcomes, as solicited by the Dean/Department Chair.
  • Respond in a timely manner to information requests from the institution, administrative officials, prospective employers, professional organizations, public agencies, civic organizations, private foundations, the general public, and students.
  • Promote appropriate standards of linguistic expression in both written and oral communications.
  • Ensure all academic program requirements and documentation are completed for each student and submitted per established deadlines.
  • Ensure all faculty expectations are met on a weekly basis.
  • Appropriately manage all classroom activities.
  • Be reasonably accessible to students for questions and assistance.
  • Monitor educational and professional literature for best practices in areas related to courses taught.
  • Assist with the development of curricular and policy changes as requested by the Dean/Department Chair.
  • Assist with the selection of new textbooks as appropriate.
  • Participate in professional development activities (minimum of 1 per year) if teaching on a regular basis.
  • Adhere to all institutional and School/Department policies.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Dean/Department Chair.
