About The Position

Pacific Pros is seeking a Construction Logistics Specialist IV (Area Resident Manager for Roadway and Terminals) for Construction Projects to serve as a representative for Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA). This individual will be responsible for supporting the team in communicating and coordinating construction activities between airport operations and multiple projects and contractors. The role involves collecting, organizing, and reviewing construction phasing and logistics to identify conflicts within individual projects and across all projects collectively, providing guidance for mitigating these conflicts before construction begins. The goal is to help minimize construction-related impacts on tenants and passengers while preventing construction conflicts and expensive redesigns for terminal-improvement projects.

Requirements

  • At least 20 years of experience, preferably supporting airport building programs or similarly complex building programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, aviation, business, engineering, construction management, planning, or another related technical field required.
  • Problem-solver with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and switch gears in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout, and design skills, including the ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Proven accuracy, reliability, priority-setting skills, and completeness in accomplishing assigned work.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues to a nontechnical audience.
  • Ability to work under pressure on high-profile and complicated assignments.
  • Ability to understand the intent and processes associated with various construction-delivery methods.
  • Superior project-management and time-management skills.

  • Ability to read design plans and maps and interpret construction terminology.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Must pass a federal background check.
  • Candidates must be locally available for this position.
  • Must be fully on-site for this field position.

  • Shall be open to work modified schedules, including nights and weekends, as dictated by the contractors' work activities and accelerated project schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Owner's representative.
  • Communicate and coordinate construction activities between airport operations and multiple projects and contractors.
  • Collect, organize, and review construction phasing and logistics to identify conflicts within individual projects and across all projects collectively.
  • Provide guidance for mitigating conflicts before construction begins.
  • Identify areas of potential work overlap and recommend opportunities for more efficient and less disruptive packaging or procurement of the work.
  • Stay current with the scope and schedule of all current and future airport projects.
  • Extract look-ahead information concerning barricades, utility shutdowns, and other activities that could affect LAWA or tenant operations.
  • Coordinate with utility-shutdown experts and engineering technical-support personnel to make recommendations concerning the timing of utility shutdowns.
  • Review and comment on Area Shutdown Requests to ensure adherence to LAWA standards.
  • Recommend procedures and protocols to the CALM Manager.
  • Develop appropriate tracking and recordkeeping tools.
  • Prepare progress reports and briefing materials as required.
  • Attend multiple daily project meetings to gather construction-activity information.
  • Read and interpret project plans and schedules.
  • Ensure that information regarding activity impacts is communicated among project stakeholders.
  • Read, understand, and interpret project schedules and Gantt charts.
  • Serve as a liaison with third-party entities whose construction activities may overlap.
  • Contribute to advancing program goals through a commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the CALM Manager to ensure that information is accurately presented and kept current.
  • Produce monthly and annual team reports for executive management highlighting the team’s accomplishments.
  • Support the CALM Manager by managing project-related data for the Coordination and Logistics Management (CALM) Team within the Airport Development Group at LAX.
  • Help minimize construction-related impacts on tenants and passengers while preventing construction conflicts and expensive redesigns for terminal-improvement projects.
  • Assume other duties as required or needed.
  • Work overtime as required to meet project deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks.
