About The Position

The Construction Laborer supports asphalt paving and related construction activities across Dickerson & Bowen project sites. This role performs a wide range of essential tasks, including site preparation, grading, paving support, and assisting with the installation or repair of various structures. Responsibilities also include traffic control/flagging, shoveling, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and setting up or completing stringline layouts. Laborers work closely with equipment operators and crew members to ensure efficient, high‑quality project execution in all field conditions.

Requirements

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL class B)
Valid tanker endorsement
Ability to follow specific directions
Ability to perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy
Ability to repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure
Ability to evaluate information using measurable standards
Ability to stand or walk for long periods
Ability to use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds
Ability to climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
Ability to see (naturally or with correction)

Responsibilities

Digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel, using pick and shovel.
Lifts, carries, and holds materials, tools, and supplies.
Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
Mixes, pours, and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials, using handtools.
Joins, wraps, and seals sections of pipe.
Performs a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, and placing culvert sections in trench.
Supports asphalt paving and related construction activities.
Performs site preparation, grading, and paving support.
Assists with the installation or repair of various structures.
Performs traffic control/flagging.
Maintains clean and safe work areas.
Sets up or completes stringline layouts.
Works closely with equipment operators and crew members to ensure efficient, high‑quality project execution in all field conditions.
