About The Position

This internship is open to undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction field. Qualified applicants will assist project teams in managing construction projects, including all phases from bidding to final completion. Assignments may include office and job site work, and relocation to remote sites may be required. Transportation is required for this role. Work periods are typically 10-14 weeks with 40 hours per week. Housing may be provided in certain situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams in managing construction projects/ including all phases from bidding to final completion.
  • Learn the engineering and technical aspects of the project both in the field and in the office.
  • Perform quantity take-off.
  • Assist with layout.
  • Conduct preconstruction/as-built surveys.
  • Review/approve shop drawings & submittals and maintain logs.
  • Review/submit/respond to RFIs and maintain logs.
  • Interface with subcontractors & suppliers.
  • Attend weekly progress & coordination meetings.
  • Assist with coordinating the work between the owner, architect & subcontractors.
  • Assist during the bid process with subcontractor outreach/solicitation, bid package development, bid review & verification.
  • Assist with reviewing construction documents & specifications.
  • Assist with reviewing all document revisions & clarifications.
  • Assist with maintaining field records.
  • Assist with estimates/budgets/value engineering/constructability surveys.
  • Assist with writing subcontracts & purchase orders.
  • Assist with preparing billings change orders for owner.
  • Assist with verification & approval of invoices.
  • Assist with ordering & expediting materials.
  • Assist with quality control & safety management, including inspections, tool box talks, project-specific program review & development, first work inspections and documentation.
  • Assist with managing subcontracts.
  • Assist with the permit process.
  • Assist with performing scheduling, estimating & project management.
  • Assist with punchlist & project closeout.
  • Cooperate & work with field project management.
  • Assist with developing monthly reports.
  • Assist with site logistics plan development and implementation.
  • Verify and track work progress and field productivity.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
