About The Position
Works under the direction of the Construction Inspection Supervisor in the Engineering Division. Inspects all phases of construction work and grading on various projects being constructed under contract by the City of Memphis to ensure that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. Interprets blueprints and specifications. Records quantities of materials received and used. Maintains daily diary of construction and inspection activities. Computes monthly estimates of work completed and materials used. Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from blueprints and reports such changes for incorporation on master blueprints. Drives to various locations to inspect construction sites as needed. Investigates citizen complaints and reports back to supervisor of action taken. Consults with property owners and contractors concerning right-of way agreements.
