About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Construction Inspector IV to be based in Phoenix, Arizona. This candidate will be responsible for training new employees and setting project deadlines. The role involves monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements through daily field inspections and maintaining comprehensive records. The inspector will participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning activities, track quality assurance progress, and prepare detailed reports. They will identify non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve field issues. A key aspect of this role is training and mentoring junior inspection staff on inspection procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards specific to transportation projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations and safety standards.

Requirements

  • HS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
  • US Citizenship is required for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • City of Phoenix work experience and familiarity with City of Phoenix standards and specifications.
  • Pavement preservation and asphalt paving inspection experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in documenting inspection findings and maintaining accurate field records.
  • Traffic control inspection experience.
  • Professional certifications such as NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) or equivalent transportation inspection credentials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with quality control testing methods and inspection software/technology platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed technical reports.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Prior experience training, mentoring, or supervising junior inspection staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.
  • Identifies non-conformances and recommends corrective actions to ensure adherence to project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to communicate inspection results and resolve field issues.
  • Trains and mentors junior inspection staff on inspection procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards specific to transportation projects.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations and safety standards throughout the construction process.
