About The Position

Kleinfelder's Construction Services team is looking for a Construction Inspector to join their San Jose, California office. This role involves providing high-level inspection and testing services to a diverse client base on projects throughout the California Bay Area and Central Valley. The position offers a dynamic work environment, the opportunity to work on multiple high-profile projects, and be part of an industry-leading company. While much of the work is local to the San Francisco Bay Area, Kleinfelder works on long-term projects (between 3 to 6 months) across the country, and desired candidates would be willing to support remote projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree or equivalent to include courses in related work.
  • 0 – 3 years in the field or in trade-related training in a design, construction inspection, construction materials engineering/testing, or other construction related field.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Use a company provided laptop or tablet computer and a working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • A good work ethic and high level of personal integrity.
  • Attention to detail, quality, and safety.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications in the following: ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1.
  • NETTCP paving certificate.
  • PCI certified.
  • NACE level certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide construction management and observation/inspection services.
  • Perform laboratory testing and materials and forensic engineering.
  • Bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds (22.68 kg) repetitively and over 50 pounds (22.68 kg) using handling equipment (hand truck, etc.).
  • Operate heavy equipment as necessary (i.e., ultrasonic non-destructive testing machine, concrete cylinder press, etc.).
  • Maintain safe mobility over construction obstacles by foot and ladder, traversing over rough broken ground and steep surfaces.
  • Work outside in variable weather at field sites and in labs with various levels of safety protection required.
