About The Position

The Construction Helper performs physical labor on construction sites, primarily assisting construction craft workers and electricians. The role may involve carrying tools and materials, setting up equipment, and performing tasks that range from simple to difficult and hazardous. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, includes after-hours work, and requires travel up to 50–60% of the time.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to read a blueprint.
Basic understanding of measurements, math, and mechanical skills.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Must meet company employment requirements, including passing a drug screen and criminal background check, and an MVR check if driving for the company.
Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; frequent bending and stooping; and standing 8–10 hours per day.

Responsibilities

Spot and direct heavy equipment operators, including track hoes and loaders, from the ground during excavation operations.
Operate small equipment such as a skid steer loader.
Cut and thread steel pipe and assist with fitting and installing underground and above-ground tanks.
Assist the foreman with shooting grades and documentation.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site as directed by the foreman.
Ensure signs, safety barricades, and other safety devices are in place.
Follow safety requirements, including using appropriate personal protective equipment for each task.
Account for, clean, and organize tools on the truck or job trailer.
Keep job inventory accurate.
