About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Construction Field Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team for delivery of large-scale projects in California. You will work as part of COWI’s full-service Construction Management team with strong leadership and mentoring. You’ll learn from experienced engineering and construction experts in a fast-paced and challenging environment, ultimately advancing your skills and career and taking pride in the delivery of some of California’s most critical, significant and exciting infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience, including on-site construction or construction management roles.
  • Experience with aspects of construction contract management, quality management, and RFI and submittal management.
  • Valid driving license
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • High proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Reside near Irvine, CA, or possess the ability to relocate.
  • Experience with public works construction projects.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Proficiency with Procore and Primavera P6
  • Experience providing owner-representative construction management services
  • Experience working on large water infrastructure construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work full-time, on-site to deliver major, multi-year civil works projects.
  • Remain flexible as to your work assignments and responsibilities within the CM Team, prioritizing the performance of the team and the success of the project.
  • Administer construction contracts by reviewing contractor change requests, assessing cost/schedule impacts, and drafting finalized change order documentation.
  • Develop and maintain change order cost packages, active logs, and chair discussions with the Owner and Contractor to reach agreements.
  • Support or facilitate regular change order progress meetings and review contractor payment requests.
  • Manage RFIs and submittals by reviewing for completeness, ensuring conformance with contract requirements, and coordinating responses with the Owner and Designer.
  • Provide input on constructability, cost, and schedule implications of RFI responses, conveying responses to the Contractor and ensuring effective implementation.
  • Perform field inspections to confirm construction work aligns with contract plans and specifications, documenting findings thoroughly.
  • Identify and report non-conforming work, coordinating with the Designer and Contractor to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Coordinate the development of As-Built Drawings
  • Support construction reporting and documentation.
