About The Position

AECOM Hunt has an immediate opportunity for a Construction Estimator for our Los Angeles office. This role involves working with company estimating systems and processes, applying estimating principles, and preparing bid packages, conceptual estimates, and subcontractor bid analyses. The Construction Estimator will perform duties with some complexity under general supervision, assist in larger estimating assignments, develop wage rate build-ups, read and interpret drawings and specifications, develop detailed material take-offs, and create cash flow schedules and estimates.

Requirements

  • BS/BA Construction Management, Finance, Engineering or related curriculum and 4 years of construction estimating experience or demonstrated equivalent of education/experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior construction experience in estimating the probable cost of materials, labor, equipment, off project based on drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
  • Experience in developing conceptual estimates.
  • Experience in high-rise, hospitality, sports/stadium, airport estimating.
  • Experience in quantity takeoffs to determine the necessary amount of materials for a project.
  • Prior estimation negotiation experience.
  • Experience in risk assessment inclusive of market changes, unforeseen conditions and appropriate contingencies.
  • Exposure to Bluebeam Revu, Takeoff or other estimation software.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Company estimating systems and processes.
  • Applies estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles.
  • Recognizes how various processes/project actions and assumptions may impact the project estimates and begin to assist in quantifying the impact.
  • Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for projects.
  • Performs duties with some complexity under general supervision.
  • Assists in the preparation of larger and more complex estimating assignments including the Estimate Plan.
  • Develops wage rate build-ups.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and specifications.
  • Develops detailed material take-offs for estimate development and field procurement of bulk materials.
  • Develops cash flow schedules and estimates.
