About The Position

HSH is seeking a Constructability Engineer to provide specialized insight and support for Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) construction projects, ensuring designs are practical, efficient, and aligned with construction realities. This role combines construction management, civil design, and client management. The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate engineers and inspectors on projects that are in construction, ensuring HSH quality standards are met, project specifications and plans are adhered to, and providing advice to field personnel. The role involves approximately a 50-50 split between field and office/remote work, with occasional night and/or overnight work required. This position will also support HSH's strategic growth goals for the Construction Services group by attending industry events, participating in professional groups, identifying new growth areas, and collaborating with the marketing team. Additionally, the role is responsible for managing field-services training and education to ensure HSH is at the forefront of industry training and certification.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or advanced degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related degree is required.
  • 8+ years’ experience in public works/horizontal construction or construction management is required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, sketches, notes, calculations and verbal instructions, and use them to create multidiscipline engineering drawings is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3-D is required.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Ability to work in team environment as an individual contributor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking, judgment, and experience to define, analyze, and resolve problems and issues required.
  • Experience managing field and officer personal performing similar duties is required.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • P.E. preferred.
  • Experience with construction management software such as ProCore is desirable.
  • Experience identifying and mitigating construction project risk is preferred.
  • Experience managing large public works/horizontal construction projects, including scheduling and document management, preferred.

Responsibilities
