About The Position

Seeking an early-career Construction Engineer to support heavy civil, structural, roadway, and geotechnical foundation projects. The position works closely with project managers and field supervision on planning, scheduling, technical coordination, quantity tracking, safety, quality, and project controls.

Requirements

  • Zero to four years of relevant construction, civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Construction, or a closely related engineering discipline preferred; emphasis on heavy structural, civil roadway, or geotechnical foundations is highly relevant.
  • Exposure to testing, inspection, scheduling, quantity reporting, material purchasing, construction specifications, construction equipment, drawings, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to travel and work safely on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Geotechnical engineering and foundation experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, HeavyJob, HeavyBid, Viewpoint, OnBase, and CAD is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed crew work plans with field supervision and monitor execution.
  • Build and update three-week schedules and provide accurate CPM schedule updates.
  • Coordinate with owners, design engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, haulers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Review invoices, timecards, labor and equipment hours, and cost-code accuracy.
  • Order materials and tools required for assigned crews.
  • Review shop drawings, draft RFIs, maintain submittal logs, and interpret plans, specifications, codes, and design instructions.
  • Support project quality-control and site-specific safety plans.
  • Track production rates, contract quantities, pay estimates, utilities, document control, as-built plans, and project closeout.
  • Help resolve field construction problems, plan discrepancies, and errors or omissions.
  • Perform QA/QC testing such as pile load tests, soil-nail verification and proof tests, and tie-back testing and lock-off.
