About The Position

A Midwest multi-disciplined engineering firm is seeking a Senior Construction Engineer for its Naperville team. The role involves coordinating and observing construction activities, maintaining project documentation, reviewing completed work and pay requests, and supporting civil engineering and client service needs. Salary is commensurate with experience. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering from an accredited program, with an emphasis on construction engineering.
• Eight or more years of progressive experience.
• Past IDOT or Illinois Tollway project experience.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain one within one year.
• Construction experience with Chicago DOT or Metra.
• Experience with IDOT or Tollway construction management software.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison with the contractor.
• Conduct on-site observation as needed.
• Coordinate construction activities.
• Maintain job site records, including daily reports, job meeting minutes, approval drawings, and/or pay requests.
• Observe and document construction activities and maintain a daily log.
• Monitor the progress schedule and shop drawing log.
• Review pay requests and verify completed work.
• Perform general civil engineering and client service duties.
