Construction Apprentice
About The Position
Alyeska Builders, a locally owned general contractor serving Interior Alaska, is hiring motivated people who want to learn carpentry, develop construction skills, and build a long-term career in the trades. Previous construction experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate. Apprentices work alongside experienced carpenters and construction professionals, gaining hands-on experience on real projects. Work assignments depend on current projects and crew needs and may cover carpentry, drywall, concrete, or dirt work and equipment operation. Apprentices can develop their skills and take on greater responsibility while working toward Journeyman Carpenter status. Career opportunities may include higher compensation, crew leadership, supervision, and other roles as the company grows. This is full-time, year-round employment, generally Monday through Friday, with overtime and occasional Saturdays during the busy construction season.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds or more.
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
- Willingness to learn and accept instruction.
- Positive attitude and team-first mentality.
- Interest in developing professional carpentry skills.
- Desire to build a long-term career in construction.
- Complete OSHA-10 certification before employment; company-provided if needed.
- Complete one company-approved continuing education course every six months on own time.

Responsibilities
- Work alongside experienced carpenters and construction professionals on real projects.
- Learn and develop carpentry and other construction skills through hands-on work and instruction.
- Depending on project and crew needs, work in rough or finish carpentry, framing, roofing, windows and doors, siding, flooring, interior trim, cabinets, tile, drywall, concrete, foundations, flatwork, formwork, concrete finishing, epoxy coatings, excavation, site preparation, trenching, grading, equipment operation, backfill, compaction, and road or pad building.
- Complete OSHA-10 certification before employment; training is provided by the company if needed.
- Complete one company-approved continuing education course every six months on the employee's own time.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, and report driving violations that may affect employment responsibilities.
- Work overtime and occasional Saturdays during the busy construction season when needed.
