About The Position

Cherry Bekaert is a full-service public accounting and consulting firm seeking a Construction and Real Estate Manager to join their Finance & Accounting Outsourcing (Advisory) team. This role involves managing and delivering outsourced accounting engagements, including transaction processing, month-end close, financial statement preparation, and on-demand accounting support. The position focuses on solving accounting and financial reporting challenges and expanding accounting advisory services to clients. The manager will be responsible for performing engagement activities, leading client discussions, overseeing engagements, and drafting deliverables.

Requirements

  • Deep construction and real estate accounting experience (required)
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction accounting
  • CPA (preferred)
  • Track record of or interest in business development
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required)
  • Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal skills
  • Executive presence
  • Proven ability to lead and develop team members
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within project budgets
  • Experience working with offshore teams a plus
  • Knowledge of professional standards and regulations
  • Prior experience with internal controls including documentation

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments
  • Experience with Sage Intacct CRE, Sage 300
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products required (ability to effectively utilize PowerPoint; Intermediate Excel skills with ability to analyze and summarize data using formulas, pivot tables, and related add-ins)
  • Ability to travel as needed (range may be 10%-25% of the time)

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and perform a variety of engagements including overseeing daily accounting services, monthly accounting close, preparation and review of financial statements, and providing ongoing best practice and accounting support.
  • Manage engagements by assessing and evaluating client accounting challenges, developing tailored advisory solutions, and establishing the timeline and scope of engagements.
  • Provide status updates to client leadership on task status, findings, and recommendations.
  • Identify best practices and other recommendations in clients' account reconciliation or other financial processes and develop an executive-level report of the findings.
  • Oversee firm objectives (engagement economics) and manage resources to ensure established goals are met on each project.
  • Mentor and develop associates by providing continuous feedback and utilizing firm-developed tools and processes.
  • Assist with the evaluation and constructive steps to enhance associates’ performance and development.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients and identify opportunities for expanded services.
  • Develop internal and external relationships focused on long-term business development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
