About The Position

Gordian is seeking an Account Manager in the NYC area with professionalism, construction knowledge, and a results-driven approach, leveraging Gordian's construction data and software. The primary role involves supporting and training clients on products and services related to Job Order Contracting (JOC). JOC is a procurement method and construction process designed to enhance efficiency, cost savings, and quality for government entities, educational institutions, hospitals, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or comparable work experience.
  • 5+ years of construction procurement, construction management, project management, or general contracting related experience in both facilities and road construction preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in public construction operations, pricing and contracting, including scope development and estimating/price proposal development.
  • High level analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively manage several projects simultaneously in development and in the field during construction.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Flexibility, strategic thinking, problem solving skills, goal driven, client obsessed, ability to deliver results, meets client and corporate deadlines, time management skills, self-motivated, works well independently and in a group dynamic.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerBi.
  • Ability to develop and generate custom tracking documents and reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in construction documentation and administration preferred, but not required.
  • Job Order Contracting or IDIQ experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various public procurement and project delivery methods and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain detailed activity schedules to meet client procurement objectives within specified timeframes.
  • Implement project procedures from identification through construction execution, including scope development, proposal review, contract compliance, and notice to proceed for Job Orders.
  • Read and understand construction plans and specifications, conduct comprehensive price proposal reviews, and create/review detailed construction line-item proposals.
  • Train contractors on Gordian software, client procedures, and assist with client contract bidding.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage multiple accounts and foster positive customer relationships.
  • Drive client retention, renewals, upsells, and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Account Managers on daily operations, including contract renewals, scheduling, troubleshooting, and software training for clients and contractors.
  • Determine the root cause of customer success and failures, and drive requirements for process enhancement and development.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand customer goals and key performance metrics, aiming to exceed them annually.
  • Provide input on new processes and workflows.
  • Ensure superior customer service levels, operational excellence, and strategic insight.
  • Collaborate with construction management firms to promote consistency and develop standards and procedures.
  • Work with Finance on billing setup and invoicing.
  • Participate in budget development and management, and revenue forecasting.
  • Develop annual program usage and benchmark reports with Sales and Business Operations teams.
  • Monitor and follow through on all construction/project activities to ensure they meet client needs, are executed promptly, and stay within budget.
  • Review contractor change requests and initiate job order supplementals as appropriate.
  • Interact with owner representatives, contractors, and end-users to minimize project concerns.
  • Review contractor daily inspection reports, summarize, and report on construction progress weekly to upper management.
  • Position will be on-site at client offices in Long Island City NY with the ability to travel 60-70% within assigned geographic area.
