About The Position

This is a Contract position based out of Pataskala, OH. The role involves overseeing connectivity-related construction activities and projects on site, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines. The Connectivity Engineer will serve as the technical lead for industry and Meta standards, manage the RFI process, and coordinate with various partners and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and material flow.

  • Experience reviewing and leading installations in accordance with design documents and specifications.
  • Data center development and/or construction management experience.
  • Experience managing IT or IP network deployment projects in mission-critical environments requiring coordination across multiple disciplines to achieve a common objective.
  • Experience leading deployments of network and structured cabling infrastructure.
  • Experience performing fiber optic testing at scale, including complex troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs, including progressive inspections and final acceptance processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Primavera P6.
  • Experience with outside plant (OSP) cabling deployments, including OTDR and OLTS testing.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and report on site project and program scopes, schedules, and milestones.
  • Work closely with the site project management team throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Continually review ongoing projects for schedule and budget efficiencies, and document key data points.
  • Support the development of project management best practices and initiatives.
  • Coordinate SOPs/SIPs with vendors and participate in global and regional standards efforts.
  • Facilitate lessons-learned reviews with internal and external cross-functional partners.
  • Support the project controls team with forecasting and budgeting efforts.
  • Share current project status with upstream and downstream partners, ensuring clear and complete handoffs.
  • Establish milestones for equipment procurement and track and report progress.
  • Assist with the selection and evaluation of contractors supporting structured cabling work within the data center.
  • Report project progress, risks, and key site initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Work with installation partners to establish and track project milestones.
  • Conduct pre-project planning and project handoffs, and ensure design delivery and validation.
  • Identify and respond to project risks and high-priority issues quickly and effectively.
  • Track and manage project change-order requests.
  • Oversee all connectivity-related construction activities and projects on site, including tracking and reporting actual progress against schedule expectations.
  • Set and communicate clear expectations with the site team, build strong relationships with installation partners, foster a safe and collaborative working environment, and promote a "right first time" execution philosophy.
  • Perform physical inspections to ensure vendor work meets DEC quality standards throughout the data center lifecycle.
  • Validate physical installations, test reports, build accuracy, material compliance, and adherence to local codes.
  • Conduct constructability reviews across multiple design phases.
  • Serve as the technical lead for industry and Meta standards.
  • Lead product evaluations, design reviews, and installation methodologies in the field.
  • Own and manage the Request for Information (RFI) process.
  • Develop solutions for field-related scope gaps and design clashes.
  • Partner with DEC design and engineering teams to support design reviews, bill of materials (BOM) reviews, and as-built drawing validation.
  • Liaise with construction partners to ensure deliverables are achieved during new builds and retrofit projects.
  • Coordinate with logistics partners, vendors, and suppliers to ensure a smooth end-to-end flow of materials.
  • Proactively communicate project progress, risks, and key initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Ensure vendors adhere to safety requirements in accordance with local regulations and DEC safety best practices.
  • Promote a "safety first" culture while collaborating with others in support of shared objectives.
  • Foster an environment of open and transparent communication and demonstrate strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) practices.
