Configuration & Release Engineer - Configuration Management

BETA Technologies•South Burlington, VT
•Onsite

About The Position

The Configuration and Release Engineer coordinates, releases, and implements engineering changes to aircraft, motor, and subsystem configurations for experimental, production, and in-service products. The role drives Change Requests (CRs), Change Orders (COs), and Change Actions (CAs) from assessment through release and closure, ensuring changes have defined, resourced, and scheduled implementation plans and are incorporated into applicable configuration baselines. This work supports FAA certification and continued operational safety. As part of the Configuration and Lifecycle Management (CaLM) team, this role works across Design Engineering, Certification, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Flight Test. It maintains accurate, auditable configuration records across PLM, ERP, and as-maintained databases so that aircraft and motor configurations used in test, production, and service remain controlled, reviewable, and certifiable. The position is focused on configuration management rather than design engineering or document administration. The role is based in an aircraft production environment and involves significant onsite work at BETA Technologies locations in Montreal, QC, and Burlington, VT. Compensation is $115,000–$135,000 USD. The position includes Restricted Stock Units and Performance Stock Units for full-time team members, onsite healthcare in Vermont, comprehensive medical coverage, dental and vision insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid parental leave, daily lunch, flight lessons, and additional perks.

  • Coordinate cross-functional impact assessments for hardware and software changes and obtain input from affected engineering and functional disciplines.
  • Develop and manage implementation plans that are defined, resourced, and scheduled to meet company and program milestones.
  • Identify retrofit activity for flight-test, in-production, and in-service aircraft and motors, and track it to completion.
  • Apply aircraft or motor effectivity to end-item units and maintain configuration baselines for test, production, and operational use.
  • Prepare change packages for the Change Review Board, document decisions, and drive actions to closure.
  • Advise engineering, manufacturing, and certification stakeholders on design-change impacts to safe flight, required maintenance actions, and return to service.
